Embark on an exciting and enriching experience in the Omagua Nature Reserve and the Amazon wetlands. This kayak tour combines adventure activities with nature observation, giving you a comprehensive view of the region’s biodiversity and natural wonders.
Kayak + Canopy Tour Route and Activities
Just 10 kilometers away along the Tarapacá highway is the Omagua Nature Reserve, whose name means “people who look and listen.” This reserve is a magical place where virgin jungle and local wildlife intertwine to offer a unique experience.
We will begin our adventure with a 20-minute walk along a path marked out in the jungle. This trail will take us to the heart of the reserve, where we can appreciate the lush vegetation and perhaps spot some local species of flora and fauna.
Tree Climbing and Suspension Bridge
One of the most exciting moments of the day will be climbing a 37-meter-high tree. Equipped with all safety measures, we will climb to the treetops for a breathtaking panoramic view of the Amazon rainforest. From this height, the landscape unfolds in a spectacular green vista that stretches as far as the eye can see.
After the climb, we will cross a 100-meter suspension bridge, also known as the Tibetan bridge. This bridge will allow us to experience the sensation of walking among the trees, swaying slightly while enjoying the tranquility and sounds of the jungle.
Canopy and Spiderweb Sleeper
The adventure continues with two sections of Amazonian canopy, covering a total distance of 200 meters. You’ll fly through the jungle, feeling the adrenaline rush as you zip through the treetops. This activity offers a unique and exciting perspective of the natural environment.
Finally, we’ll face an 8-meter spider web traverse, followed by a spectacular 35-meter descent. This combination of activities guarantees an exciting and challenging experience, perfect for adventure lovers.
Wetland Exploration and Wildlife Observation
After the activities at the Omagua Nature Reserve, we’ll head to one of the largest and most biodiverse wetland areas in the region, also located along the Tarapacá highway.
Here, we’ll take a 3- to 4-hour Amazon kayak tour, navigating through the tranquil channels and observing the wildlife that inhabits these wetlands.
During the cruise, we will have the opportunity to observe various species of birds and monkeys. Among the primates, we can see the monk monkey, the white-faced monkey, and the lion tamarin, all known for their fascinating behavior and agility in the trees.
Giant Tree Observation
In addition to the wildlife, the wetlands are home to impressive trees such as the walking tree (Renaco) and the Capinuri.
These giant trees are a true spectacle of nature and play a crucial role in the Amazon ecosystem. We will stop to admire these specimens and learn about their ecological importance.
